In 2019 a non clinical study to evaluate the physical and psychological effects of one reiki healing treatment was carried out on 1411 people. They received a 45 - 90 minute treatment from reiki masters and were thoroughly assessed before and after their sessions.
The study concludes that "Statistically significant improvements were observed for all outcome measures...a single session of Reiki improves multiple variables related to physical and psychological health."
Now, what exactly is reiki healing therapy you ask?
This therapy comes from Japan and is a deep relaxation and healing modality that works on all levels;- spiritually to reconnect to yourself, physically to ease tension and pain, emotionally and mentally to release suppressed emotions and calm the mind.
Reiki healing therapy helps to restore balance and peace back into your life by working to remove energetic blockages and to cleanse and recharge your energy system.
How does it work?
To become a reiki practitioner, you receive attunements which open your energy system up to connect to a higher source - the universal life force energy. In Japanese "Rei" means higher power and "ki" means life force energy/energy. It is stressed that this modality is not religious and can be used on anyone and animals too.
During a reiki healing treatment, the practitioner channels reiki through their hands to the receiver. Working closely with the chakras and using gentle touch it is a deeply supportive and healing modality.

The most common after effect of reiki healing is a feeling of deep relaxation and peace.
Reiki is very good at releasing suppressed emotions and calming the nervous system.
However, it is possible to block some of the healing effects of reiki if a recipient is not open or ready for it.
I believe this happens on a subconscious level.
